Known issues & limitations

These are current behaviors to keep in mind when playing Lothlórien.

By item, creature and place

Dispensers and automation

  • Dispensers cannot catch or release fireflies. Use a glass bottle or Bottle of Fireflies by hand.
  • Dispensers do not extend Elven Rope or apply bone meal to custom plants.
  • Villager farmers do not plant or harvest Western Corn.
  • Bees do not use the mod’s flowers for pollination.
  • Custom provisions cannot replace vanilla food for feeding wolves or villagers.

Building differences

  • Mobs do not open or break Mallorn doors. Account for this when making paths for villagers or designing mob enclosures.
  • Interacting with custom blocks does not produce the usual sculk vibrations. Sculk sensors will not detect those block interactions.
  • Mallorn planks cannot repair vanilla wooden tools in an anvil.
  • Door hinges are chosen from neighboring doors rather than the precise point you click. Place a matching pair together for double doors.

See Travel & building for water, redstone, support and collection rules.

Animal care and equipment

  • A unicorn does not heal passively like a horse. Feed your bonded unicorn Elanor to heal it.
  • An Elven Cloak does not prevent freezing and cannot be dyed or given an armour trim.
  • Galadhrim arrows require the Bow of the Galadhrim in Survival. They cannot be made into potion-tipped variants.

Planting near buildings

The Great Mallorn Nut grows an enormous tree. Its obstruction check stops growth around many built blocks, but natural terrain and unstripped logs can be replaced. Keep its crown and roots clear of anything you want to preserve. If growth is blocked, the warning identifies an obstruction; break the sprout to recover the nut and replant farther away.
